Knee Injury & Friday Movie Night

Shit, I was using that...

Well, last night I injured my knee. Not my bad left knee (old car accident injury) but my good right knee. The one I depend upon when my left one acts up! But, really, it was my own damn fault. I mean, I was doing something so crazy and dangerous that I couldn't really expect any other outcome. What was I doing? Brace yourself, before you read on, because the details are so shocking. I ... (are you ready for it?) ... rolled over to my side in bed and bent my knee! Can you believe that? How fucking nuts am I to do something so extreme? And, oh man, it felt like the whole outside of my knee just tore itself into shreds. Ouchie! I have to seriously stop trying to bend my knees. They obviously aren't made to stand up to that kind of punishment.

Oh, Anne, quit your complaining...

Tonight we are taking "movie night" on the road. One of our friends was on a skiing trip recently*, and he broke his leg ... in several places. Poor guy. He won't be walking for months. Although he can work from home, it's obvious that he is going just a bit stir-crazy. So we are headed over there tonight to watch a movie (probably "Pride and Prejudice").

We are also going to lend him some DVDs. Last night, so I could send it to him, I updated our DVD list to include everything we acquired since Christmas. We have 184 DVDs!! (And many of these are sets, like a season of a TV show.) I was a little shocked that we own so many.

I was planning to bring him some chili, until I realized this morning that my decision to not buy any of the crummy-looking produce at Target yesterday meant that I didn't have all of the ingredients that I needed this morning to start the chili** in my crockpot.

* I often feel like we missed out on a lot of fun activities because we got married young and started a family right away. But, then, one of our friends breaks a leg (or an arm, twice) to remind me that gadding about during your young adulthood holds other dangers!

** After I finish this, I'll be posting the recipe on my other blog.

Jeeze, don't you hate doing silly extreme stuff like that and injuring yourself. I managed to do that a few times this fall, simply puttering around the house doing nothing. Talk about extreme :P

It's amazing how fast those DVDs breed, esp when you get sucked in to the discount DVD bin at the store.
